For my web publishing project I decided to develop a classroom website. I used the web based application Sharepoint that my district provides. Through this activity I learned how to add and modify web parts. I created a calendar of events, a section for announcements, and monthly information. I also created two different web link sections. One for my parents and one for my students.
While using Sharepoint I found it to be fairly user friendly when creating a basic page and uploading documents. However, it became a lot more complicated when I tried to add pictures and organize the main screen. I didn't feel like things were clearly labled. In addition, I found Sharepoint to be very limiting in design and creativity.
I will use this webpage to primarly communicate with parents. They will be able to keep track of upcoming events and access educational resources that supports learning in the classroom. Parents will also be able access fun online activities for their students to explore and play with at home.
